The distinguished English actor Mirren, previously recipient of an Oscar, multiple Bafta awards, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, plus a Tony, will soon add another major award to her shelf: the DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

Dame Helen, 80, formerly made a dame during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will pick up the accolade at an event January 8, just prior to the main Golden Globes are held, during a program described by the organization as Golden Eve.

Additionally featuring the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for TV work, whose winner is still to be revealed. The prior year’s honorees featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is truly exceptional,” stated Helen Hoehne, Helen Hoehne. “Her transcendent performances and dedication to acting continue to inspire countless performers and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to award her the DeMille prize.”

Professional Journey

Helen Mirren rose to fame in the 1970s with key roles on stage at London’s West End and with the RSC and in films such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase further. Other important films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as the Queen in the 2006 movie The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 in The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play regarding the encounters with the Queen and prime minister Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony during 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• More recent films feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
• Her performance in the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has garnered acclaim with award talk is growing regarding her role as an ailing family head in Kate Winslet’s first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• Next year, Mirren will be seen as Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be announced on 8 December, featuring Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
