Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase like this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
